Harding Tomb Marion, Oh |
October 2002 |
Warren Harding is buried in Marion, Ohio which is about a hour north of Columbus. The Harding house is not that far from the tomb. School children sent in pennies to raise money for the memorial to President Harding. When I went there it was a cold morning and the tomb was locked so you couldn't get in to see the graves up close. I am not sure if it is always like that. My guess was that his grave is the one that has a feather in the front of it. When President Harding was elected Lt. Governor of Ohio so many people came that the front porch collapsed and had to be made with tile so it wouldn't happen when he ran for President. He gave a lot of his speeches on the front porch. He had a Sears house kit bought for the press and put in the back yard. When he left for Washington D.C. to take the oath as President that was the last time he would go into the house again.
